Trial runs are paid through Tandem’s integrated payment platform. You can connect a company bank account or debit card to make payments. Your provider will receive the hourly rate that was set for the job, and Tandem will collect a flat fee of 35%. When you’re ready to offer the provider a permanent position at your center, you won’t pay us a finder’s fee.

Care Certified candidates.

We will send you candidates who have had their FBI/BCI background check and gotten registered in OCCRRA. All that’s left to do will be the 1176 form, and we help them with that, too! They’ll also be ready with their medical records and high school diploma so as soon as you’ve found a potential fit, your trial run can get started.

Pay us only after work has been done.

Tandem collects a 35% fee on top of what you pay your provider, but only after they’ve worked. You set the rate you want to pay for the job when it’s posted. After you’ve hired a candidate, you’ll decide on the length of the trial run. Our default trial run is 80 hours - if this doesn’t work for your needs, let us know! During the trial period, you can pay the provider daily or weekly. Be sure to communicate the payment schedule to the candidate so they know what to expect. Because the provider is still a contractor of Tandem, we handle all of their taxes for these payments.

FAQ

  • You do! We know pay rates are not one size fits all. You will be able to set a pay range or rate and confirm it when you hire a provider.

  • Tandem has a built-in messenger allowing you to easily contact your applicants as soon as they apply (we’ll let you know when you have a new applicant via email). In the messenger, you can also schedule interviews. Our system will notify providers to remind them of their scheduled interview which decreases unreliability.

  • You’ll pay your child care provider after they’ve worked. This can be on a daily or weekly basis, depending on the preferences of you and the provider. The rate is set by you when you hire the provider. You’ll simply enter the number of hours worked on the Tandem site and submit payment. At this time, a 35% convenience fee will be added to the total and go to the Tandem team.

  • Trial runs have shown to be effective because if it’s not a long-term fit, you lose less. Tandem does the upfront work to get the provider compliant so you don’t lose this time and money in the event that it’s not a long-term fit for one or both parties. We’ll re-open your job posting and help you find another candidate to trial.

  • You are not bound to a contract. If the provider is not a good fit and you realize this mid-trial run, you can let the provider and the Tandem team know, and we can work to find you a new candidate.

  • We ensure candidates have their FBI/BCI background check completed and assist them in submitting the form 1176 through OCCRRA (for your center, before the job). They’ll also have their medical form and high school diploma. If your center requires additional credentials, you can surely communicate this to the sub ahead of time.

  • Nope! You pay Tandem a 35% fee on top of hours worked during the trial period, but no additional fees. If it’s a long-term fit, we encourage you to give them an offer.
