The new and improved way find subs.

Our process is simple. It takes a few steps to find a substitute, and we’re here to help you along the way. Our platform encourages open communication. We believe that sub roles lead to long-term relationships - we actually encourage this!

  • Let us know what your needs are through a job posting. You’ll enter the schedule (could be one day or 3 weeks!) and required/preferred qualifications. You set the rate you want to pay for the position.

  • Your job posting will automatically be sent out to candidates who we believe will be a good fit. You’ll also be able to browse profiles and invite providers who match your preferences. As soon as someone is interested, you’ll be notified via email.

  • We value open communication, so we allow you to view profiles before deciding who would be a good fit for the role. You can send messages and conduct interviews with providers you’re interested in. Once you’ve decided on someone, you’ll add them to your staff through your job posting on the site. Our support team will be working by your side to ensure the provider shows up for the job ready to work.

  • Tandem has a built-in payment platform called TandemPay. After your provider has worked, you’ll head to the “Payments” section on the site and pay for the hours work. At this time, a 35% fee will be added to your payment which goes to Tandem. You only pay this fee after you’ve had a successful experience!

Care Certified candidates.

We will send you candidates who have had their FBI/BCI background check and gotten registered in OCCRRA. All that’s left to do will be the 1176 form, and we help them with that, too! They’ll also be ready with their medical records and high school diploma so as soon as you’ve found a potential fit, your trial run can get started.

Tell us your preferences and requirements so we can find candidates who are a match. Our deep understanding of the child care industry and its’ compliance requirements has allowed us to build a workforce filled with candidates that will fit right in at your center.

Pay us only after work has been done.

Tandem collects a 35% fee on top of what you pay your sub, but only after they’ve worked. You set the rate you want to pay for the job when it’s posted. After the job is over, your provider will be prompted to clock their hours and you’ll submit payment through the website. Because subs are contractors of Tandem, we handle all of their taxes!

Post a role for a sub last-minute or weeks in advance. We allow you to find a sub for one day or a few weeks at a time. If the sub is a good fit in your center, you can continue to request them on an ongoing basis! We encourage open communication - if it’s a great fit, you can even offer them a permanent role at your center. We have no contracts or finder’s fees.

FAQ

  • You do! We know pay rates are not one size fits all. You will be able to set a pay range or rate and confirm it when you hire a provider.

  • Tandem has a built-in messenger allowing you to easily contact your applicants as soon as they apply (we’ll let you know when you have a new applicant via email). In the messenger, you can also schedule interviews. Our system will notify providers to remind them of their scheduled interview which decreases unreliability.

  • Yes! We aim to send you multiple applicants for any given substitute job. You will be able to view profiles and communicate with candidates before hiring the candidate of your choice.

  • We ensure subs have their FBI/BCI background check completed and assist them in submitting the form 1176 through OCCRRA (for your center, before the job). They’ll also have their medical form and high school diploma. If your center requires additional credentials, you can surely communicate this to the sub ahead of time.

  • You’ll pay your sub after they’ve worked. If you’re using a sub on an ongoing basis, you can pay weekly. The rate is set by you when you hire the provider. You’ll simply enter the number of hours worked on the Tandem site and submit payment. At this time, a 35% convenience fee will be added to the total and go to the Tandem team.

  • We value open communication. This means we don’t have contracts or finder’s fees. If a sub is a good long-term fit at your center, we encourage you to offer them a job!

  • We’ve built a platform that motivates child care providers to build and maintain a strong, reliable reputation. That said, we are not immune to the unreliability in that exists in this industry. If a provider does not show up or cancels last-minute, our team will do our very best to get a replacement.
