Meet team Tandem.

  • Olivia Weinstock, CEO and Co-Founder

In 2010, at the age of 11, I founded my first business—a summer camp for local children, run in my backyard. By the end of my high school career, Kiddie Kamp had grown to over 100 kids and had created an interconnected network in my small community. This network allowed me to build something so valuable—trust. The connection between a parent and a caregiver is something so important. Over the years, I have learned this from the perspective of a parent, as I’ve provided countless recommendations, and of a sitter, as I’ve taken care of countless children.

In 2019, I took this knowledge and used it to found Tandem—the free marketplace for care services. Tandem is a free platform that connects families with caregivers based on our core values: mission, communication, respect, and performance.

  • Natalie Amling, Technical Co-Founder

I was a nanny growing up, and I really value what it takes to be a great babysitter. For that reason, I am beyond excited to get to create a reliable and easy marketplace for parents to find trustworthy caregivers! I have had the joy of working for two Columbus companies previous to Tandem who really value what the Midwest has to offer, and I look forward to taking part in bringing more exciting opportunities to my home town.

  • McKenzie Kennelly, Technical Co-Founder

When I was in high school, I took a class where we had to build our own business. Our business sold exotic animals, and I was put on the IT team. I decided to attempt to build the website from scratch, which in retrospect, went horribly because I knew nothing but the most basic HTML and CSS. I never got the website up to production, but the experience did make me want to be a computer scientist.

During my senior year at OSU, a classmate and friend, Natalie, asked me to “help” her out with a startup. I had no idea what that entailed, but I said yes anyways. Within a few days, I met Olivia and we all got started. Bringing Tandem to life has been an experience I am grateful for every day. I get to show up to work and build something I believe in with a team of incredible people. I get to learn and be challenged, all while seeing the product in the hands of our families and care providers. I seriously love working here, 10/10 would recommend.

  • John Nastase, Full Stack Engineer

I’m excited about the opportunity to work at Tandem. It’s motivating to work on a product that people need and value. I’m looking forward to the journey ahead and growing with a great group of people here. What I lack in skills I hope to make up with terrible programming humor and well-placed pop culture references.

  • Krista Dombroviak, Full Stack Engineer

When I first heard about Tandem, I wanted to learn more because the idea of working in a women-owned business in technology and child care appealed to me, both as a woman in the technology industry and as a parent. In the end, what really sold me was the amazing, intelligent team I now get to work with every day and the flexible, focused, and supportive culture that allows us to make a difference in the lives of families and their caregivers.

I discovered programming as a relatively new college graduate with a degree in English literature and decided to go back to school in computer science. In the years since then, I have loved the opportunities to solve a problem with a team and to learn something new that the technology field provides, but working for a startup is very different than any job I’ve had before. I am really loving being able to focus on what can bring the most value to our customers and contribute to a product that makes child care easier, more reliable, and more accessible. I have no doubt that this team can make those things happen for more people in the days to come, and I am grateful to be a part of it.

  • Evan Webb, Full Stack Engineer

I have always been interested in startups and their ability to move quickly and change industries, so when I heard about Tandem and their model to change the way parents and child care providers find each other I couldn’t wait to hear more. When I met the founding team and heard about the product they had built, I knew I wanted to be a part of Tandem. I feel extremely privileged to be working with such a welcoming and compassionate team, on a product that I know has the ability to positively change the way parents find child care providers and providers manage those relationships and find more opportunities.

  • Allison Broccolo, Full Stack Engineer

As soon as I heard about Tandem, I knew it was a place I would love to work. I’ve always been really passionate about programming ever since I started doing coding competitions with some other girls back at my high school, and working at a female dominated tech company is such a privilege. Everyone at Tandem is really helpful and inclusive, and I continue to learn so much from them every single day. Everyone here truly cares about the problems Tandem is trying to solve in the child care industry, and I look forward to working towards these goals with people I am confident can help.

  • Max Buck, Full Stack Engineer

I joined Tandem to be a part of a brilliant team of genuine people. I have always aimed to work at places where my impact is tangible, the challenges are great, and the product is something I want to exist. Serving families with children by building high quality software does just that.

Since graduating from Ohio State with a computer science degree I’ve had the chance to spend time in the non-profit, VC backed, and corporate world. Wherever I have gone, I have found that the people you work with and the problems you are solving make all the difference. In my free time I like to climb rocks, write poetry, and program for fun.
